This is an air journey, in which one goes from Nepalgunj in Nepal via Simikot and Hilsa to Taklakot via helicopter. The further journey is by car.

This journey is organized by the Ministry of External Affairs. Every year, the government sends a group of 60 pilgrims in 16 batches between 29 May and 26 September for the Kailash Mansarovar Yatra. The journey duration of each batch is 28 days. During this period, a passenger is allowed to carry up to 25 kg of luggage. Which can contain 5 kg of food items. The age of Indian citizens eligible to visit Kailash Mansarovar should be between 18 years to 70 years. Considering the difficulties of the journey, only physically fit and healthy people are allowed to go.

In such a situation, every passenger must have an Indian passport with a remaining validity period of at least 6 months as on 01 September of that year at the time of travel. Apart from this, the age should be less than 70 years. Whereas foreign citizens are not eligible to apply. The body mass index (BMI) of the person going on a trip should be 25 or less.
